10 Trendsetting Songs of the Decade

Posted on December 26th, 2010 in Features, Music

Each movie brings something new that thrills audiences and makes them applaud. One of those thrills is the songs that are created to help make the moments and enhance the story of the film. While some songs fail to leave a mark on the audience, some remain etched forever in the minds and hearts of Bollywood fans. So much so that they become responsible for imitations galore…in short they become trendsetters for the others to follow. Here’s a quick look at what we think are the ten trendsetting songs of the decade. Since ten years means numerous movies and abundant songs, we had a hard time narrowing down to just 10 but here are our picks, for some that left the others to follow!

Woh Ladki Hai Kahan: Dil Chahta Hai

The countdown would be incomplete nay invalid without this song. Amazing choreography by Farah Khan, this one introduced the theme of retro-spoof in Bollywood. Quite a few songs followed this concept of imitating the old Bolly-era : whether it was ‘Gustak Dil'( again Farah’s from Dil Maange More), ‘Kyun Aage Piche'(Golmaal) or the more recent ‘Chalte Chalte’ (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi). We still think the original rocks though!
