3. Rani Mukherji

Rani ruled the roost for most of the decade with her critically acclaimed and power packed performances, but perhaps her film Black set the bar to high. What does an actress, after delivering such a unique, powerful and well executed performance, resort to when reading through scripts? Perhaps, that is the catch…in our minds, Rani was at her best, she did her best and was her best in Black, but then there existed no other powerful roles for women (bar some) in Bollywood to help her continue carrying that flaming torch. Bollywood is an industry that is slowly but surely growing and becoming more diverse and is, I hate to say, limited when it comes to female roles. Regardless of the limitations set on women, Rani came back with Yash Raj Film’s Dil Bole Hadippa – a fun, entertaining and colorful film. It may not have been a successful film at the box-office and certainly did not allow Rani to prove her diverse and gripping acting mettle, but it allowed us to see Rani in new light. With a toned physique and a newly acquired sexual appeal…Rani was back to be noticed and she most certainly was.

Something tells us that No One Killed Jessica could give this ‘saali’ a reason to light the torch once again.
