Having gone from being the leading production house who held all the power in the industry to a struggling shadow of its former glory, Yash Raj Films is trying its hardest to get back in the game. And how else to do it other than casting the best of the best in Bollywood?

Coming on the heels of rumours running abound that Aamir Khan has been signed on for Dhoom 3 and that he will start reading the script around October 15, the latest is that YRF is planning to rope in their lucky charm Shah Rukh Khan into a forthcoming project.

The film is still in the planning stages and will either be directed by Yash Chopra himself or son Aditya Chopra, both of whom cast SRK in their most recent films Veer Zaara (2004) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) respectively.

A source says, “YRF is yet to decide who will direct the Shah Rukh starrer. SRK has very good relations with both Yashji and Aditya. He has equal faith in both of them. They are like family to him.”

The team of SRK and YRF is known for its very high success rate with films like Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara, Chak De India and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. If this casting coup were to be finalized once again, it would be a film awaited with bated breath by the industry.

Though the lead actor has been finalized, the heroine has yet to be cast at this time.

Filming for this movie would begin in 2011, meaning that SRK would be shooting both Don 2 and the YRF film at the very least, offering a reprieve for fans who have not seen much of King Khan on the big screen as of late.

A YRF spokesperson said, “We are still working on our slate for the coming year and will make our announcements at the appropriate time on the finalization of our projects.”
