Producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria have banned the use of mobile phones on the sets of their keenly awaited The Dirty Picture.

The entire unit including actors’ staff and visitors will be required to deposit their phones with the production before coming on the set, when the film goes into production on Monday, 30th May.

The makers are keen to keep the novel look of the film very closely guarded till the right time and do not want any images of MMS clips leaking out. Most significantly, as the film depicts Vidya Balan in a bold, never-seen-before avatar, the actress is also said to have endorsed the makers’ no-mobiles policy.

The Dirty Picture has already been in the news for its bold and entertaining depiction of the 80’s South film industry. The makers are recreating the retro look with a blend of glitzy, classy modern.

Remarks Ekta Kapoor, “To put it succinctly, the look is very Moulin Rouge meets Himmatwala. TDP will be a good-looking, humorous and soulful romantic drama, with music at its core.”

The film is expected to release later this year.
