‘We Care Trust’ had invited celebrities from Films, Music and television to interact and give love to the children suffering from genetically acquired fatal disorder ‘Thalassemia’ on International Thalassemia Day.

Celebs who came to play games, chat and entertain the kids were Neetu Chandra, Sukhwinder Singh, Shreyas talpade, Manish Paul, Nikhil Dwivedi, Aditya Singh Rajput, Srman Jain, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ankita Lokhande, Sushant Singh Rajput, Manjari Phadnis, Gurcharan Singh aka Sodhi, Dr Haathi, Sailesh Lodha aka Tarak Mehta, RJ Mantra and many others.

Neetu Chandra came early in the morning at 9 AM to watch the film with kids. Later after the film she interacted with kids along with RJ Mantra. Gave them prizes and when some kids requested, she even danced with them. Sukhwinder Singh sang Dan Dana on popular request. Manish Paul told loads of jokes and so did Shreyas. Children went bonkers when the team of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah walked in. All the artiste were called by their character name and cheered.

Commented Sapna Jeswani, the force behind the NGO ‘WE CARE’, “this problem is something that has no cure and drains the family financially and emotionally. But this can be prevented if parents are educated and made aware of defected gene in advance.”

We Care Trust is going all out to reach the younger generation in schools & colleges and educate them about the reasons for this fatal but preventable disease. They are also conducting free advance tests to check and inform the parents to be. Most of the time even the doctors do not bother to inform expectant mothers about Thalassemia and whether they are carrying Thalassemia gene, nor do they advice any test to prevent it.

About Thalassemia
Thalassemia is inherited blood disorders. “Inherited” means they’re passed on from parents to children through genes. If two Thalassemia Major careers have a child, then this illness is passed to the child as an active disorder. It is very serious blood disease that begins in early childhood. However, it can be prevented.

Thalassemia causes the body to make fewer healthy red blood cells and less Haemoglobin than normal. Hence, people who have Thalassemia can have mild or severe anaemia. If untreated, death is imminent. They require frequent blood transfusion.
