The Bachchan’s are Not Attending IIFA

Abhishek Bachchan has taken to twitter to clarify to fans that he will not be attending or performing at the IIFA awards in Toronto, later this month. The actor tweeted, “Just to clarify…. Neither Aishwarya nor I will be performing or attending IIFA Toronto. Classic case of jumping the gun!”

Amitabh Bachchan had also previously used twitter to clarify that he will not be attending the IIFA awards. In January the superstar tweeted, “Not coming to Toronto IIFA… IIFA says my services are not required.”

Amitabh Bachchan had previously been the brand ambassador for the IIFA awards since its creation in 2000. However, IIFA and Amitabh Bachchan parted ways apparently because he did not attend last year’s event that took place in Sri Lanka.

The IIFA weekend is set to take place in Toronto, Canada from 23-25th June 2011.
