Shah Rukh will perform at IIFA, despite knee injury

Shah Rukh fans can rejoice! Despite recent buzz that he may not be able to perform at the 12th Annual IIFA Awards due to a knee injury, King Khan himself has confirmed that he will indeed be on stage this Saturday.

Shah Rukh took the micro-blogging site Twitter to inform his fans that he is preparing for IIFA. “nursing knee injury to get ready for iifa. wish toronto was closer to bandra. (sic),” he tweeted from Mumbai, much to the delight of his fans. He will also be attending a red carpet event at the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto along with actor Vivek Oberoi on the Friday evening preceding the show.

Noted choreographer Shiamak Davar will be choreographing Shah Rukh’s much anticipated performance, which will be the finale of the awards ceremony. Shah Rukh also tweeted that Davar was, “making the dance steps easier for [him].” Davar has choreographed for many popular Bollywood films including Dil To Pagal Hai, Taal, Bunty Aur Babli, and Dhoom 2.

The last time Shah Rukh performed at IIFA was in 2004 in Singapore to a medley of Dilip Kumar hits. Stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat, and the Deol trio are also scheduled to perform at the ceremony in Toronto this Saturday. Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani will be hosting.
