With celeb cross-over between Bollywood and South Indian film industries (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam) becoming the predominant trend, it wasn’t a big surprise when reports floated that Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha had shown great interest in starring opposite superstar South Indian actor Kamal Haasan in his upcoming movie Viswaroopam.

However if recent reports are to be believed, it is being rumoured that the actress has now opted out of the project, citing delay in schedule as the reason. The film was initially planned to go on floors in June, however due to unknown reasons the same has been postponed to August, which unfortunately clashes with Sonakshi’s next project Rowdy Rathore (the Hindi version of Telugu superhit ‘Vikramarkudu’) directed by Prabhudeva, co-starring Akshay Kumar.

Sources are hinting at Deepika Padukone being the next best choice for the role. Ironically this isn’t the first time the two Bollywood beauties have been contenders for the same role. While back, Deepika was stated as having replaced Sonakshi in the film Rana opposite Rajinikanth which is currently on hold due to Rajinikanth’s ill-health. Seems like the competition between Salman and Shah Rukh is rubbing off on their respective leading ladies as well.

Vishwaroopam is a trilingual film which is going to be directed and produced by Kamal Haasan and is touted to be a spy thriller.
