Starting his career as a professional photographer, moving on to doing theatre, Boman featured in a number of advertisements like Fanta, and Krackjack biscuits. He debuted in Bollywood with Josh (starring Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai) in 2000. And after entertaining the audience for around 10 years, with impressive roles in Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Don, the actor has now found a new hobby – Singing.

It all began at the recent IIFA award function in Colombo where the audience was treated to his skill as a crooner, wherein Boman played the guitar and sang Give me some sunshine from the film 3 Idiots. Much to his delight, he found his first fans in Salman Khan & Anil Kapoor who supported him throughout by doing dance moves from where they were seated and their enthusiasm was infectious enough to get the audience to join in.

This act took his singing prowess to an unexpected level and Wizcraft roped him to be part of the Teachers’ Origin Highnights tour along with music director Shankar Mahadevan, which is currently on in the metro cities. At the recently held event, Boman intimidated the audience by singing ‘We are the world’, as a tribute to Micheal Jackson on his first death anniversary. The audience was so besotted by the performance that they chanted ‘once more’ and gave the singers a standing ovation. The highlight of the evening was when Kolkatta’s singing queen Usha Uthup joined Boman on stage.

“I never look at it as a career. First enjoy it yourself and make sure that others also enjoy it. And you are not sickening them with your work. But I don’t say that I want to be a singer because I got to make a career out of it. I don’t plan that too much,” Boman recently confessed in an exclusive interview.

Turning to singing isn’t the first for a Bollywood actor. Hrithik sang a song for his recently released ‘Kites’. Farhan Akhtar took to the mic for his film ‘Rock On’. Even Bollywood’s Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan and Baadshah Shahrukh Khan, have had their attempts at singing in the past.
