Both the stars had publicly pledged their friendship to each other and their camaraderie were so apparent that many filmmakers wanted to cash in on this jodi. In fact Zoya Akhtar wanted to cast them together in Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara. But they politely refused saying that they wanted to appear together for the first time in their production house movie. Both had also come together as emcees for Filmfare and also for Karan Johar and Varun Bahl’s India Kouture Grand Finale. However talks of their soured relationship started doing the rounds when Ranbir did not attend Aaamir Khan’s party for music composer Gustavo Santaolalla at Imran’s 24 Pali Hill house.

So what is the reason behind the sudden hostility? Sources say that Imran’s girlfriend Avantika is a major factor behind the breakup of this friendship. Avantika was supposedly dating Ranbir before they broke up and she started going out with Imran. In fact even Deepika Padukone – when she was dating Ranbir – seemed to have been possessed by the green monster whenever she saw them together. On top of this, director Rahul Rawail had commented online that during a screening of Rajneeti, Avantika and her mother were incessantly criticizing Ranbir – and the movie – more than was necessary. And so it seems that Ranbir wants to stay clear of Avantika as far as possible. Which we guess is impossible without avoiding Imran as well.

He is a better dancer than I am. I don’t have that natural flair. I need to work and rehearse. He doesn’t rehearse. I am always jealous of people who dance well. We don’t discuss scripts but we are very upfront about (each other’s) films. He called me after watching Luc’ and said that it was damn bad,” is what he disclosed.
