Shah Rukh Khan’s slick crime thriller, the highly anticipated release Don 2, just got bigger and grander. Producers Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani announced earlier this week that due to the tremendous response to the promos, they have decided to convert the film into the 3D format. This high digital effect, which was earlier supposed to be limited to a few scenes, is expected to make the viewing experience a memorable one for the audiences.

Confirming the news, Ritesh said “There is a huge demand for the Don brand, also our audiences must be expecting much more and beyond just cinema from the sequel so hence a 3D format. We did a few 3D conversion tests on Don and the conversion outcome was very very good”

Though Ritesh and Farhan Akhtar considered this idea during the shooting the film, they were hesitant to convert the entire film into 3D. The call to go ahead with the process was taken when Ritesh was impressed with the samples of the 3D conversion tests he saw during his recent LA trip.

Additionally, the film will also be dubbed into regional languages Tamil and Telugu, which would mark Shah Rukh’s first dubbed theatrical release in the Southern states. No official statement has been made on who will dub for the artistes.

Written and directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don 2 hits cinemas this winter and is slated for a worldwide release on 23rd December 2011. The film is co-produced by Reliance Entertainment along with Farhan and Ritesh’s banner ‘Excel Entertainment’.
