Vivek Oberoi is on a much-deserved high these days. With Prince doing so well, the actor has proved his critics wrong on many accounts. Owing to the film’s opening success, Oberoi is being offered interesting projects and has recently commenced shooting once again for Ram Gopal Verma’s next, Rakhta Charitra.
The film is the first to be divided into two parts, with a three-week gap between releases. It will also see the Bollywood debut of South-Indian actress, Priyamani, who is award-winning actress Vidya Balan’s cousin. To be released simultaneously in no less than three languages, Rakhta Charitra is a story about a man who becomes a rebel due to circumstances. Ramu has gone on record to say that Oberoi was the perfect choice for the role, “He has remarkable intensity in his eyes which I noticed in the making of Company. He has a voice which commands attention…”
Oberoi, who has described his character in the movie as his dream role, is also very excited, “The film is just phenomenal. It’s the role of a lifetime which travels through a true story of a young engineering student who turns into a rebel against society. He is fighting against injustice for down-trodden people. He goes on to become a politician who is then assassinated. It’s the first Indian film to be shot in two parts”.
The movie appears to be in an entirely different space in comparison to Prince. Oberoi has always been very diverse in his characters and almost refuses to conform to any particular genre of Indian cinema and rightly so. After the aptly described “super-cool” Prince, Rakhta Charitra is sure to show yet another side of Oberoi’s talent. The film will release later this year.
