Three top Indian movies are set to storm the barricades of Worldfest at the AMC Studio in Houston, Texas from April 9th-18th. One of the oldest film festivals in the US will see Boddhisatva, Ek Tho Chance and Saluun.

Boddhisattva stars the extraordinarily talented and beautiful director, writer and actress Trisha Ray and Soumitra Chatterjee in a movie about a young man forced by debt to do something he doesn’t want to do, who also finds himself trapped in a marriage he doesn’t want to be in, and sharing his house with a beautiful guest that he does want very much. As the tagline goes, “This isn‘t a love story.”

Ek Tho Chance stars Amrita Arora, whose career is bursting out in all directions, Purab Kohli and Rajat Kapoor. A remarkable movie, it tells the tale of the thousands of young hopefuls who arrive in Mumbai every day hoping to fulfil their dreams. Following the interwoven storylines of a dozen of them, the film presents a living city, brimming with energy, a lust for life and tempered with the despair of those who take the wrong path.

Saluun is a comedy-thriller starring Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who played Chunni in Dev.D, and the delightful Gayatri Choudhary about a small roadside beauty salon owner who gets beaten down to zero by corrupt and stupid government officials but who then decides to fight back in his own way.

Worldfest excels itself again this year with the best independent movies from across four continents. Amongst the best of the other movies on display are Bambara Wallala from Sri Lanka, the remarkable journey of one man through life; Olivier Dessalles astonishingly accomplished Glamrock City about the slow disintegration of personality of a lesbian performance artist; the Russian comedy O Luckyman! about the perils of winning the Russian equivalent of Who Wants to be a Millionaire; and the Russian film Kislorod, a fantasy romance with some extraordinary cinemagraphics and the incredible Karolina Gruszka.
