Despite only being across borders, the line that divides the Southern film fraternity and the Northern film fraternity is always ever so distinct. Be it their style of stories, characters, music or even dance sequences. Very few choose to cross the divide between the industries knowing very well that the other side is worlds apart from what they’re used to. However, Rana Daggubati is taking this bold step very early on in his career. Being only one film old in Telugu cinema the tall, dark and handsome actor is already filming for his Hindi debut in Rohan Sippy’s multistarrer Dum Maaro Dum, which also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Prateik Babbar.

Having said the actor is not just one film old, he is one blockbuster old. His debut film Leader directed by the very acclaimed Shekhar Kammulla is playing in cinemas currently and is reeling in the big bucks in no time!

The young actor hails from a legendry filmi family that have a long legacy in Telugu cinema. Prior to his debut the actor worked quite extensively with his family’s home studio ‘Rama Naidu Studios’ and also for his own company Spirit Media which has been acknowledged for attaining new heights in post production technology for cinema.

Coming from a family that is so rooted to Telugu cinema one cannot help but wonder if the debut in Hindi cinema means that the legacy ends with Rana. Quick to defy this conclusion the actor spoke to the media on the matter and cleared all doubts. “No way! Telugu films are close to my heart. If I haven’t signed any Telugu film after my first one, that’s because I haven’t come across any exciting scripts. I am not worried about how I’ll fare in Mumbai tinsel town. I am going to give my 100 per cent to my film as usual.”

With that rumour at rest one is eager to hear about his prep for the role and all about what he’ll be doing in Dum Maaro Dum. The actor got a little candid about the film, but not too much! “I’d met Rohan a couple of times earlier, but we’d never discussed films. I was pleasantly surprised when he sent me this script and I really liked the role.” He goes on to deny the rumour that he’s playing a negative role and only reveals that the film is tailored around 3 main character played by Abhishek Bachchan, Prateik Babbar and himself. “I am growing my beard for the role and maintaining my fitness regimen. That apart, I am not doing anything else for now.”

Only time will tell if Rana is able to break the divide between the two industries and fair as successfully in Hindi cinema as he has in Telugu cinema. For now all eyes are on Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum so stay tuned to Bollyspice and we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
