Former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandes has expressed an interest in starring in a Sri Lankan film now that the industry is beginning to find its feet once again. “Now that the tension has eased a little bit and the situation there is slowly returning to normal, I am sure that we should be able to revive the film industry there,” she says, “As much as I want to be a part of Bollywood, I also want the film industry in Sri Lanka to stand back on its feet and make world-class movies.”

Jacqueline is currently working on Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, a romantic comedy with her co-star from Aladin, Riteish Deshmukh, in which she plays a girl from the planet Venus. The final song for the movie will be shot at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and will take the form of a show in which the students of the college can also participate. “It is a youth-centric film,” says director Milap Zaveri, “So why not have real students instead of backdrop dancers for the promotional videos and end credits?”

Jacqueline is also set to make a special appearance in the masala comedy flick Housefull with Akshay Kumar thanks to the work she has been doing on JKSAH. “Jackie fit the bill perfectly,” explains director Sajid Khan, “I really liked her work in JKSAH and thought she looked really hot in some sequences. So producer Sajid Nadiadwala and I immediately zeroed in on her for a small part in the ‘Apni Toh Jaise Taise’ track.”
