Born in England and hoisted in New York, Karsh Kale is one of the brightest stars of the global music. Billboard Magazine describes Karsh Kale as a “visionary composer and producer”.

Karsh Kale started off as a local drummer with local bands whilst studying music production and performance at NYU (New York University), where he was able to showcase his original style as a tabla player. With an experience of 12 years as a solo recording artist, producer, composer, live performer and DJ, Karsh has certainly raised the bar of electronic fusion to a different standard and has helped create a new genre of music and culture that has influenced an entire generation. Not just this, Karsh Kale has also been a genus meandering collaborator and has recently given his first score created alongside the Midival Punditz for Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone starrer Karthik Calling Karthik.

Karthik Calling Karthik has bagged in awesome reviews with 6 original tracks and 3 remixes on the soundtrack. It includes peppy romantic track like ‘Hey Ya’ which stands neutral and doesn’t come under a bad or good category and the every-club track ‘Uff Teri Ada’ which is easy on the ears but still danceable. ‘Jaane Yeh Kya Hua’ and ‘Kaisi Ye Udasi’ are the slow paced tracks of the album. Kailash Kher spells magic as usual amongst all these tracks. ‘Karthik Calling Karthik (Theme Remix)’ and ‘Karthik 2.0’ (by Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale) both offer heavy bass beats with a rock feel, which is definitely something new to Bollywood and a treat to the youth. On a whole, the album is average and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have not disappointed.

India’s electronica pioneers are Midival Pundtiz (Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj). Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale have worked together for nearly ten years and now have their new production unit Midival Punditz – Karsh Kale (MPKK) to create music for film projects and it marks the first time MPKK have scored a major Bollywood film. Karthik Calling Karthik, is written and directed by Vijay Lalwani, and is a thriller. Midival Punditz – Karsh Kale have merged as well and explored an array of genres from a power packed orchestral set-up to strong rock, jazz and jittery electronica. They have combined modern music with a very classical approach and bring a contemporary undergo to the music, utilizing electronic composition and modern resonance.

MPKK’s first walk into the film industry was with them crafting an entirely new background score to the 1973 Bruce Lee classic Enter the Dragon, which they have toured the world with. Lately they have completed the background score for Ajay Naidu’s autonomous intersect film, Ashes, which will make its debut in 2010. The trio actually performs all their compositions live with their releases. Now that’s something different!

The trio’s filmography includes soundtracks like Monsoon Wedding, Closer, Chutney Popcorn, Kambakht Ishq, Fashion, Don, and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II and television shows such as Prison Break, Six Feet Under, Real Time with Bill Maher, True Blood, as well as MTV’s The Real World and many others.

Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale are renowned for their revolutionary albums such as Karsh Kale’s Realize, Liberation and Broken English and the Midival Punditz’s Midival Punditz, Midival Times and 2009’s Hello Hello, as well as collaborations with the likes of Zakir Hussain, Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar, Salim – Suleiman, Shankar Mahadevan, Bill Laswell and pioneering projects such as Tabla Beat Science and 2007’s Breathing Under Water.

MPKK are suspended to make 2010 the year they are able to counterfeit new avenues for their music within the film world.
