2008 was fantastic for Hindi cinema. 2009 unfortunately did not fair the same. We had some great films and then some that could really go down as the worst films ever made ala Chandni Chowk To China (what were they thinking?), Dil Bole Hadippa (ditto) and then Victory (Harman Baweja just couldn’t make the cut yet again). However, Bollywood still did manage to jut out a few films that made you think, laugh, cry, scream, shout and walk out of the cinema thinking, “Haan ji, paisa vasool.” Erm…wondering which films those were? Yes, R. Balki’s Paa just about made it to the Top Films list. Mind you it fought tooth and nail with All The Best. In the end, we had to hand it to a film that was thought provoking and reinstated Amitabh Bachchan as a class actor while also making viewers realize that Vidya Balan does have immense untapped talent. The character of Auro was exceptionally well conceptualized with complete credit to the director.
