It was clearly quality over quantity when it came to fashion at Zee Cine Awards 2012 which was held in Macau this year. Not a lot of our stars were present at the event but the few that were present made rather wise fashion choices for the night.
Shah Rukh & Gauri Khan
Whilst I’m on the fence about Shah Rukh’s grey/black suit combo, I certainly have no bones about saying that his Mrs looked absolutely ravishing on the red carpet! The Tarun Tahiliani saree was definitely made for the red carpet and Gauri styled it damn well. Safe choice to leave the accessories at home because a saree of that calibre needs no dressing up whatsoever!
Farhan & Adhuna Akhtar
Minus the fact that Farhan had a rather scruffy face for the event, I do think he suited up quite nicely. Adhuna unfortunately went for a ‘hatke’ look that didn’t work for me, a black dress that sported a printed sleeves. The large gold clutch definitely didn’t help either.
Verdict: Not Hot
Dia Mirza made her appearance on the red carpet wearing a lovely gown by the designer duo who do gowns like no other, Shantanu and Nikhil. There’s definitely nothing to criticize about when it comes to this outfit.
The original Roma made a rare appearance at the event in a beautiful anarkali that was absolutely fit for the diva that Zeenat Aman is!
Zoa of Always Kabhie Kabhie fame walked the red carpet in stunning Rohit Bal piece from his 2011 bridal collection. I love that Zoa went for something other than gown or a saree and pulled it off so well!
It was a James Ferreira saree for Kajal Agarwal on the red carpet. Originally presented in a more decked up bridal way, this saree lost its charm on the red carpet.
Verdict: Not Hot
Ms Kaif managed to skip out on the red carpet hence we only got a glimpse of her attire once she was on stage. I totally love this floor length anarkali by Manish Malhotra on her and more than that, I love that she went for a bindiya/maang tikka to complete her desi look.
No prizes for guessing who Vidya was wearing at the event, Sabyasachi ofcourse. The saree rocks but we do wish Vidya would give us a tidy pleated pallu look with a fancier up-do one of these days.
Verdict: Could be hotter
Piggy Chops kept it classy and simple in this black sequinned Robert Cavalli gown. Hardly a look you can go wrong with!
And that’s a wrap for Zee Cine 2012! We do hope we have a better turnout at the many more award functions to come!
