Hindi cinema has a long line of outstanding actors that have graced the silver screen over the years. Whether it is looks, roles they have chosen or just that elusive “it”, there are some actors that are destined to be stars. With each new generation, there is a new crop of these “stars” and in many cases their careers have followed somewhat a long the same path of ones who have come before. We thought we would take a look at five of the new heroes: Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Abhay Deol and Shahid Kapoor and see whose footsteps they are walking in.

Ranbir Kapoor is the new Raj Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor has movies in his blood. Deemed the next big thing, the actor is ready to raise the bar and how with his good looks and with the backing of his star parents: Rishi and Neetu Kapoor. However, the actually resembles his grandfather, Raj Kapoor who possessed not only a dynamic personality but loved films deeply. Raj Kapoor began his legacy as a mere clapper boy and while Ranbir did not have to start quite as low down the hierarchy, he too had begun his career as an assistant to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black. While Raj Kapoor was known as “The Charlie Chaplin” of India, Ranbir not only does extremely well in comic roles but also has actually mimicked Charlie Chaplin in his last offering, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Their acting styles too are claimed to be quite similar. The veteran actor was known for his versatility and capability to act in all genres of films ranging from comedy to romance and even patriotic. Thus far, Ranbir has pretty much covered the romance department with Saawariya; the romantic comedy arena with Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Wake Up Sid and most recently in the comedy, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. He will be next seen in the political drama Rajneeti. With a reputable lineage to follow and many comparisons made to his grandfather, a stalwart in Hindi cinema, Ranbir has big shoes to follow. Watch out, this Kapoor is here to stay.
