Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which stared Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin was a blockbuster hit. ZNMD took audiences on a road trip through Spain; along the way the three friends each discovered something about themselves, life, friendship and love.
As well as bagging several awards it has now been nominated for 6th Asian Film Awards at the Hong Kong festival alongside A Separation, The Flowers Of War and four other films. Ritesh Sidhwami tweeted today, “It’s a honor to be in the best film category along with these films and the name they have given ZNMD is You Don’t Get Life A Second Time…”
Although fans have been eager to find out what happens next it does not seem as if a sequel is on the horizon as of yet. Director, Zoya Akhtar although happy and celebrating the fruits of her success; told reporters at the FICCI Frames event, “As of now we don’t have any plans to do a sequel to ZNMD. I don’t think it would be correct to do it right now. We will give it a couple years and catch the characters when they are five years older.”
Although sequels are a favourite within Bollywood such as Don 2 and Housefull 2, Zoya Akhtar plans to work on other projects and come back to ZNMD later. “I am doing a short film and then I would start writing for my next film,” Zoya said.
It is expected that the success of the first film would only mean the second would be welcomed and much anticipated. Let’s hope Zoya Akhtar brings the sequel to our screens soon and ZNMD gets a second time to shine.
