We wish a happy birthday to top southern actress Asin Thottumkal, who is 24 years old today. The Kerala-born actress is currently enjoying the promotion campaign for her new film London Dreams and recently talked about how co-star Salman Khan and her father got along together on set. “Salman and my father got along very well and he even gifted my father one autographed portrait,” she said.
Asin won her forst Best Actress award for Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja when she was just 18. She followed this with another award-winning performance in Shivamani 9848022338 opposite Akkineni Nagarjuna and then of course came the enormous success of Ghajini, both the Tamil version with megastar Suriya and the equally good Aamir Khan version, for which she won a slew of awards. Somewhere is between were the astonishing superhit movies Pokkiri with Vijay, recently remade by Salman Khan as Wanted – and Kamal Hassan’s groundbreaking Dasavatharam, earning her yet another award – her cabinet must be bulging by now.
Producer Vipul Shah has dreamed up an interesting way to promote London Dreams, the story about two village kids who want to be rock stars. He’s going to put on two rock shows in Delhi and Mumbai starring the cast of Salman, Asin and Ajay Devgan. “I see no point in the traditional media interactions,” he explained, “Besides, both the actors have done enough media in the last two months for their other films. Since London Dreams is about on-stage experiences the rock concerts seemed like a good idea.”
