Ironically, Tamannaah who is causing an earthquake in the movie world down south with her cream-coloured skin and sensational energy-filled roles, recently escaped an earthquake herself. She was filming in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia opposite Jayam Ravi for Thillalangadi, a Kollywood remake of the top Telugu film Kick. The earthquake reached 7.6 on the Richter scale. Focussed on Padang in Sumatra, the tragedy resulted in the deaths of nearly 800 people. Even though Tamannaah and her crew were safe in an earthquake-resistant building, they were badly shaken by the experience and rushed back to India immediately.

The Mumbai-born actress who appeared in Happy Days, Kalloori and Ayan, will next be seen in Kanden Kathalai, the Kollywood remake of Jab We Met. She stars opposite Bharat and the movie is said to be a stunner with Tamannaah’s energy levels in the film way off the Richter or any other scale. Even Imtiaz Ali, the director of the original is impressed. “The mistakes I made in the original have been cleverly avoided by director Kannan,” he says. “I am sure that the Tamil version will make it big at the box office.”
The film is scheduled for release worldwide on October 30th.

Tamannaah, who burns so much energy that she has set herself a high-fat diet so she doesn’t get too thin, is also currently working on Paiyya, set for release after Christmas. She stars opposite Karthi and the movie features groundbreaking innovation in one of the item numbers where computer-based graphics will be used to integrate the performers seamlessly into backgrounds ranging from lush rainforests to soaring mountain tops.

Finally, work has started on Suri in the forests of Kerala, in which Tamannaah stars opposite Vijay as the romantic lead.
