Urvashi Sharma has been hunting down the best scripts and claiming them for her own. She has now confirmed that she has signed up for the British movie, The Bounty Hunter. “Yes, I can now confirm that I have signed the film. We were in talks earlier and hence I wasn’t at liberty to talk. However, now since everything is packed and sealed, I can happily announce my involvement with the project.” The film will also star British actors Raza Jaffrey of Spooks and Shivani Ghai, who was in Bride & Prejudice, but is best known for her work in the Italian soap opera Un Medico in Famiglia.
Urvashi is currently working on Chai Garam with Govinda and Celina Jaitley and Mukti with Shabana Azmi. Since escaping from restrictive contract obligations, she is enjoying her new found freedom to choose her own work. “This Hollywood film is one of my biggest films for sure,” she says, “I have wasted one year of my career because of this contract issue as I did not get to do films at all. But now that I’m out of it, I’m looking to do some quality work. I want to show people my acting skills and not just be recognised as a pretty face.”
Having been caught out once by bad practice, Urvashi is taking a hard line in contract positions from now on. She recently backed out of the movie Aap Ke Liye Hum when her cheque bounced and was furious when the producers criticised her for unprofessionalism. “I can’t understand how I can be accused of unprofessionalism when the makers of this film have been the most unprofessional,” she commented, “Their very first cheque bounced even before the first schedule.”
