Konkona Sen Sharma insists she is not as serious in real life as the roles she plays on screen in movies such as Mr & Mrs Iyer, Page Three and Omkara. “I don’t identify with my roles – for instance my character in Page 3 was very serious and earnest,” she says, “I keep getting roles of women who are earnest, moralistic and serious. But I’m not really like that in real life.”

Konkona is currently working on two projects – the comedy Wake Up Sid and Mirch. “In Wake Up Sid, I’m playing a well-written character, who has just finished her Master’s, has come to Mumbai to become a writer and then she meets a complete opposite person, played by Ranbir Kapoor. It’s all about their friendship,” she explains. In Mirch, she has a double role as a Rajasthani queen and as a contemporary woman – the film is about how women go about achieving their ambitions.

Konkona, meanwhile, has become a world record holder. As one of nearly 200,000 Indians, she came together to complete the Liptons Yellow Label online jigsaw challenge – the world’s biggest collaborative jigsaw event with a puzzle of over 25,000 pieces. Taking part on the last day of the weeklong event in New Delhi, Konkona said, “I am completely elated. I think this initiative by Lipton Yellow Label Tea has not only got India glory but has also proved to the world that the sharpest minds hail from India” The event will now feature in the Limca Book of Records.
