For all those of you have seen Kambakkht Ishq, you may have been surprised to see Dara Singh’s son Vindu Dara Singh resurface. This was all courtesy of Tabu who happens to be Sajid Nadiadwala’s old buddy. In fact the producer has been close to Tabu and the family, Farah Khan and husband Vindu for eons now. And so as a favor to his friend, he agreed to cast Vindu in a comic character that would be Akshay Kumar’s sidekick.
“For many years Sajid was not only close to Tabu, he was also very close to her entire family, including her sister Farah and Farah’s husband Vindu. So when this role of a goofy Hanuman to Akshay Kumar came up in Kambakkht Ishq, Sajid immediately thought of Vindu,” claimed a source close to the producer. And the supporting hero has received great accolades for his funny role.
Nadiadwala went on to explain his reason for casting Vindu for the role, “We needed someone who was Akshay’s faithful Hanuman-like companion and assistant. Vindu immediately came to my mind because he has played Hanuman on television. I wanted someone who was as goofy as Big Moose in Archies and Vindu fitted the bill.” The film has gone on to become a blockbuster hit.
