Farhan Akhtar is known for playing roles that are different and definitely hatke. Newbie Ranbir Kapoor follows that same path. If Akhtar has played a rock star and actor in both of his films, Kapoor played an ardent lover who lost his true love and later a womanizer in his respective films. However, it seems that both actors will be playing similar roles in their upcoming films.

In Prakash Jha’s upcoming bonanza Rajeeti, Ranbir will be taking on the part of a politician, as will Farhan in Sudhir Mishra’s upcoming Dhruv. In fact so comparable are the roles, that both of them will be playing young modern lads who are forced into politics and realize the importance of their leadership. There are some differences of course. Jha’s film draws much inspiration from the epic Mahabharat, The Godfather and Gandhi’s lineage while Mishra’s is closely related to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Sudhir Mishra went on to clarify that Shakespeare will take full credit for the films adaptation, “That’s the way it should be with all adaptations. Nothing comes out of thin air. But we must acknowledge our source of inspiration.”

Between Akhtar and Kapoor, both actors will need to go through an intense “political orientation” so they are familiar with political intricacies and its mechanics. However, both directors agree in unison that their respective films required fresh actors who have no association with politics to help enhance their roles and the movie.
