It is being reported that both Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar are doing great business at the box office since they released on Diwali. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan notched up RS. 12.5 Cr on Tuesday and RS. 19.54 Cr on Wednesday at the Indian box office, bringing it to a total of RS. 34.77 Cr so far. In contrast, Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar managed to collect RS. 10.72 Cr on Tuesday and 16.21 Cr at the Indian box office, bringing it to a total of RS. 26.93 Cr so far.

At the international box office, Jab Tak Hai Jaan has a strong lead over Son of Sardaar and it managed to amass around $1.3 million worldwide on its first day of release. Adarsh tweeted that Jab Tak Hai Jaan has done excellent business in the USA, UAE and Australia so far. It is also doing brilliantly in the UK and it managed to collect a very impressive £3, 34,373 over two days, whereas Son of Sardaar collected £78,215 over two days. Jab Tak Hai Jaan has also created history by securing the number one position at the New Zealand box office on Wednesday, thus surpassing the Hollywood films which are showing in the country. Although Jab Tak Hai Jaan has a slight lead, given that it is being shown on 2500 screens, Son of Sardaar has nevertheless done praiseworthy business so far. This is especially since it is being shown on fewer screens compared to Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Adarsh gave his remarks on the phenomenal business which both films are doing during this year’s Diwali festivities. “Both are winners at the box-office. This is the biggest and best Diwali for Bollywood. The business of Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar will be the biggest ever.” Adarsh tweeted that, Jab Tak Hai Jaan was made on a budget of around RS. 60 Cr. This includes print and advertising, but not Shah Rukh Khan’s remuneration for starring in the film. On the other hand, according to media reports, Son of Sardaar was made on a higher budget of around RS. 80 Cr. Trade and media experts are predicting that both films will cross the famous RS. 100 Cr mark and therefore recover production costs.

Stay tuned as we will be bringing to you the latest box office reports on both films.
