As we reported earlier, Abhishek Bachchan was trying to break a Guiness world record for making the most appearances in twelve hours while promoting a film. Abhishek said, “It’s an idea that has been with me for a while ever since I heard about some German actors who set a world record by attending five public events in twelve hours.” His plan was to go to six or seven different events within the time frame and he achieved his goal!

He made promotional appearances for his film Delhi 6 at 7 different locations in Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Chandigar and Mumbai. His last appearance was at 7:35 on Sunday in Chandigarh and with that last event he broke the record. He told IANS, “I equalled the existing record at approximately 5 p.m. (Sunday). How do I feel? On top of the world. It always feels good to do something that goes beyond what’s already been done.”

Bachchan also said, “I thought it would be a wonderful way to promote the film because usually when we promote our films, we tend to center on the metros of our country. I thought it would be nice way to promote the film which doesn’t come under the category in the sense like Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.”

Papa Bachchan aka Amitabh Bachchan happily reported on his blog that Abhishek had indeed broke the record and explained the intricate rules he had to follow to break the world record, “All the public functions have to have certain given formats to be complied with – a red carpet, sign autographs, interact with the fans, and do TV interactions. And he has done that at all these places by attending the screening of D6, an exercise incorporated by the Producers in the promotional activities designated and designed.”

Delhi 6, which opened in theaters on Friday, was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and co-stars Sonam Kapoor.
