The Rajasthan High Court yesterday lifted the ban on the filming of Salman Khan’s new epic Veer at the Red Fort. The production company has to pay a fine of 20 lakhs for damages to the Fort. The court, however, was clearly not happy with the increasing use of historic monuments for filming without due regard for the protection of the monument itself. “Unfortunately, not only the public but especially the authorities concerned have become blind, deaf and dumb in the glitter of money,” they said in a statement.

Filming of the movie, which also stars Sohail Khan and Miss UK Lisa Lazarus, can now continue. Set in the days of the British Raj, a new-look Salman plays the role of a warrior fighting the Raj. This could be one of the movies in what looks like a good year for Salman, which should restore his A+ star ranking after a series of weaker performances in 2008. Other films on his agenda include London Dreams with Asin and Ajay Devgan; and Main aur Mrs Khanna with Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta.

Meanwhile, both Salman and Abhishek Bachchan have been lined up to film together for Farhan Akhtar’s chat show Knowing Farhan. They will film together on February 26th and the show will broadcast in March.
