Last night saw the ‘Blue’ carpet premiere of Ang Lee’s (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) directorial representation of Yann Martel’s award winning book Life of Pi. The film introduces Suraj Sharma as the young Pi and his incredible survival at sea, stranded in a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger. It also co-stars Bollywood actors Irfan Khan, Tabu and Adil Hussain in key roles.

The premier took place in London’s Leicester Square at the Empire Cinema. Attending the premier was the young star Suraj Sharma, director Ang Lee and British actor Rafe Spall (Prometheus) who plays a writer who is interviewing Irfan Khan in the film.

Unfortunately both Irfaan and Tabu were unable to attend the event, but BollySpice managed to ask Rafe what is was like working with Irfan Khan, to which he responded “Irfaan Khan is one of the greatest actors I know. He has got a huge depth of emotion”. Wow, a proud moment for many of Irfan Khan’s Bollywood fans!

Life of Pi releases in 3D and 2D on December 20th in the UK and is currently showing in India. Do make sure you catch our exclusive interview with lead actor Suraj Sharma and our film review shortly.
