PETA activist Celina Jaitley has allowed herself to be chained, beaten and abused for a new advertisement condemning the treatment of elephants. “In Mumbai and other parts of India, I have seen so many elephants who are kept in such bad conditions in captivity,” she says, “I think PETA has taken a very good step and I am proud to be associated with this cause.” Celina recently raised 1 million Swiss francs at a benefit in Switzerland to support the campaign to free captive elephants.

The economist John Nash, as part of his groundbreaking work on Game Theory, once argued that the most beautiful women find it the most difficult to get dates – the reason being, in essence, that men think that exceptionally beautiful women are out of their league, so they settle for someone a bit less stunning in order to ensure they win at the eternal mating game. This argument could well apply to Celina, who is incredibly still single. “I am not really ready for marriage, but I would definitely like some love in my life,” she explains, “I would love to enjoy the feeling of being in love. I have been single for almost three-and-a-half years, can you believe that?”

The former Miss India is next up in Hello Darling with Rajpal Yadav, Eesha Koppikar and Gul Panag, followed by Char Yaar with Sayali Bhagat and Neha Dhupia and Do Lucky with Govinda, Tanushree Dutta and Amisha Patel. Finally, there’s what she hopes will be her breakthrough movie into the world market – The Quest for Scheherzade with Sean Connery and Orlando Bloom.
