It was recently announced that Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla are set to share space on the big screen, for the first time, in Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming film Gulab Gang.
Now it has been revealed that Tannishtha Chatterjee, the award winning actress from the British film Brick Lane and more recently Anna Karenina, is all set to join the star cast.
Tannishtha Chatterjee is all set to take on the role of Madhuri’s chief lieutenant, but the actress only accepted the role after the part was re-written for her.
On the subject, a source told the media, “She read the script and loved it. It was her first mainstream Hindi offer. But her role was skimpy and sketchy. Tannishtha asked for it to be fleshed out.”
It has also been reported that actresses Divya Jagdale and Priyanka Bose are all set to join the cast of Gulab Gang too.
Shooting for the film is already underway, with Juhi Chawla tweeting her excitement to be on the sets, “Shooting my introduction scene of Gulab Gang at Kamalistan Studios. Can’t express how much I am enjoying it.”
Real-life female gang, Gulab Gang, who are known for their fight against social injustice, are the inspiration behind the movie, which is directed by Soumik Sen.
Gulab Gang is set to release on March 8th 2013 in time for International Women’s Day.
