Scriptwriter Shagufta Rafique, who is writing Jism 2, the follow-up to the original Jism in 2003 which starred John Abraham and Bipasha Basu, has confessed that the follow-up will also consider marital infidelity and murder and will hopefully launch the careers of three new stars. Not only that but he claims that director Pooja Bhatt is considering extending the idea into a franchise: “The franchise will be a series of erotic and passionate films, but with different stories. We in fact have 10 scripts ready on the same theme.”

John Abraham, meanwhile, recently restored a flagging career with Dostana and is currently finishing off New York, Kabir Khan’s movie about terrorism. The latter movie required him to bare all in a torture scene which left him feeling quite traumatised by the end. “It’s a prison sequence in the US where John, who is suspected to be a terrorist, is denuded of all dignity,” says the director, “This is how they break your spirit in an American prison when they want you to confess to being a terrorist,” he claims, “They make you eat, sleep, urinate and defecate in the same room. Then they begin to strip your dignity down, until you are left in the cold, dingy cell completely naked. John had to enact this sequence.”

John’s co-star in Jism, Bipasha Basu, recently suffered a trauma of her own whilst filming an action scene. “We were doing a heavy duty action scene when this gravel went right inside my ear. I had to be taken to Leelavati hospital, where it had to be sucked out,” she says, “It wasn’t on the surface. It went right in and I couldn’t move because there was the danger that it would go in deeper and pierce the eardrums. First I tried to shake it out. Then when that didn’t work I decided to let a doctor do the needful.” As it was a Sunday, she had problems getting attention at the hospital and had to ring up John who came to her rescue by getting an ENT specialist friend to help her solve the problem.
