If you were at a cinema in Mumbai this past weekend, you may have seen some of the employees sporting the same hairstyle and not just any hairstyle! About 100 workers at various theaters got the same buzz cut, including the scar that copies the look Aamir Khan has for his newest film Ghajini. Why you may ask, is it the new style? It is all for the promotion of the film.
“It normally doesn’t happen that the entire chain of theatres accept the look of a character in a film. It doesn’t happen with every film,” Aamir said. He clarified that this was not a stunt to take away from the premiere of Shah Rukh Khan’s new film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; it is something that has been in the works for quite a while.
Tushar Dhingra, COO of BIG Cinemas said, “We are very excited to be gearing up for what promises to be a huge release and are proud to be part of such a prestigious opportunity. The film’s theme and Aamir’s look have captured public imagination and we are no exception, except that we have taken the inspiration to a whole new level.”
Aamir added, “Theatres are looking at Ghajini as an event and it has become an event in itself.”
With still ten days to go it will be interesting to see what other innovative promotions the marketing team for Ghajini has in store for us. The highly anticipated film opens in theatres on December 25th.
