Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar won the Grand Prix award at the 4th International Film Festival of Muslim Cinema Golden Minbar. Not only did the film win top honors but Hrithik Roshan was also honored with the best actor award for his portrayal of Emperor Akbar.

Gorwariker said, “This is wonderful! I am overwhelmed with this news. It is an honour not only for me and my co-producer Ronnie Screwvala, but for the entire team of Jodhaa Akbar. And I would like to thank the Jury for it. I am especially happy and proud that Hrithik won the Best Actor. His portrayal of Akbar is a magnificent one, full of nuances and detailing, which is very rarely seen on screen. I would also like to thank the Organizers for including Jodhaa Akbar in The International Film Festival of Muslim Cinema Golden Minbar.”

The film shared the honor with the Iranian film M for Mother and was selected by the Jury from a pool of 35 films that included 10 full-length films, 12 short films and 13 documentary films.
