Coming up on October 2nd, Kidnap starring Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba will roar into theaters. The film is an action packed thriller with the main story focusing on Imran’s charcter kidnapping Minissha but there are a lot of other emotional sub-stories as well. As you can tell the story is about as far from both Imran’s last film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Minissha’s Bachna Ae Haseeno as it can get.

Minissha recently spoke about playing Sonia, ”Sonia of Kidnap is so very different from Mahi of Bachna Ae Haseeno even though both are in their growing up years. In Bachna… I was this sweet girl with moony eyes who is looking for togetherness in life from the first guy she falls in love with ever. She is unable to ever forget her first love. On the other hand in Kidnap, my character is that of a hip girl who parties hard, is quite sassy and overall energetic. She never lets a dull moment around her.”

She revealed a bit about the story saying, “There is high drama involved throughout the film’s duration and the tension remains consistent. There is a strong emotional undercurrent in the proceedings as it shows the plight of a young girl played by me who has been estranged from her father since her childhood. Her parents (Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Malvade) are divorced and though she is a fun loving girl with an energetic persona, from the bottom of her heart she is still dying to meet her father whom she last saw when she was an 8 year old girl.”

Then Imran’s Kabir kidnaps her character, however to find out what happens you will have to see the film yourself. About working with Imran, Minissha said, “I remember the days when we were shooting for the film, Imran used to talk about how JTYJN had shaped up. He was quite positive about the film and had these great vibes about the strength that it carried. He was waiting for it to release and since I was already working with him in Kidnap I knew that he would be simply fantastic in whatever role he would play.”

Minissha is still basking from the success of her last film Bachna Ae Haseeno and said, “I don’t see films multiple times even if it is one of my own. However, Bachna Ae Haseeno is an exception as I have already watched it four times. Do I have any intentions of making it 5 in a row? Definitely yes!”

She also revealed that she is a bit of both Sonia and Mahi, “In real life I am somewhere between Mahi and Sonia. I am not that dreamy and demure or overtly outrageous. I am rather pragmatic in real life and know what is possible in real world and what’s not. I am actually quite grounded to reality and that’s the way I like things to be.”

Getting back to Kidnap, Minissha was nothing but praise for the script of the film, “Believe me, Kidnap is easily one of the finest scripts I have come across. Shibani Bathija, the writer has come up with an amazing script. It is a dramatic emotional thriller and what amazes me most is to see the way relationships’ surrounding each of the four principal characters has been intertwined so well.”
