Following the trail of many Southern actresses before her, Meenakshi – of Karuppasamy fame – is about to sign up for a big Bollywood debut. “Yes, it’s true that I have a good Hindi movie offer, with a big banner,” she says. “I have expressed my consent and am waiting for an official announcement.”

Currently working back home in Kollywood on TN094777, she’s also going to take in a Bengali movie, “I have already committed to do a movie in Bengali. But that was because the director is my best friend. It will be my only movie in Bengal and I’m doing it to honour my friend.”

She will also be seen soon in Pallikondapuram opposite Napoleon and in Perumal with C Sundar. For Rajathi Raja opposite Raghava Lawrence, there will six leading ladies and when each found out they were none too pleased with their star. The six village belles are: Snidgha, Mumtaz, Kamna Jethmalani, Samiksha, Kiran and Meenakshi. The actresses have been jockeying for extra screen space ever since, each claiming their own role is the most important. “I play a village belle in the movie and reports that I play a brash villager are false. I’m just any other young innocent village girl who falls for the hero,” says Meenakshi.
