Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Dilli 6 is one of the films that many have on their can’t wait to see list. One of the main reasons for this is the new jodi of Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

Sonam, whose debut film was last year’s Saawariya opposite Ranbir Kapoor, is enjoying working on her second film and especially working with Abhishek. “While Ranbir is someone I’ve grown up with, Abhishek is someone I can look up to as a co-star. He’s really cool. In fact, I’m learning so much from all my co-stars in Dilli 6.”

Sonam also said to IANS that she thought she and Abhi made a very good pair. “Abhishek and I are very well-matched, height-wise. Though he is very mischievous, I find him very mature.”

Also part of the cast is the legendary Waheeda Rehman and Sonam along with the entire cast and crew were in awe while watching Waheeda rehearse for her scenes. “Abhishek and I, and our director Rakeysh (Omprakash) Mehra are so much in awe of Waheeda Rehmanji. During rehearsals every time she reads a scene there’s pin drop silence for a few minutes. We’re all busy staring at her,” Sonam said.

Sonam’s ethereal beauty has been compared to Waheeda. “When people, including Waheedaji herself, said I look like her, I feel I’ll just faint with pride.”

Sonam was flooded with offers after Saawariya and one was a big project opposite one of the best dancers and actors in Bollywood. However she did not feel comfortable with the boldness of the role. “The role was extremely sensuous. That’s fine. But it also required a lot of nudity and there was one major lovemaking scene. It was a smashing opportunity for me to go beyond what I’ve done in Saawariya and my second film Dilli 6. But I can’t do anything that I’m not comfortable with.” That project was most likely Kites with Hrithik Roshan; there were rumors that she was offered the role.

Dilli 6 has completed its shooting schedule, is now in the post production stage and is scheduled to release in January of next year. We will keep you updated on all the Dilli 6 and Sonam news so watch this space for more!
