Today (June 6th) is the birthday of everybody’s favourite girl-next-door, Bhavana. Even though she is still only 22-years-old, she already has a long career stretching behind her in Malayalam, Telegu and Tamil movies – and we hope an even longer one stretching ahead.
She won a State Special Jury Award for her debut movie Nammal in 2002 and has never looked back since, having appeared in over 30 movies. For Chithiram Pesuthadi, she won the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award. Other notable films have included Arya, Chess, Kisan, Police, Runway and Youth Festival.
Is Bhavana happy with the way her career is progressing? “Absolutely. I have never insisted on solo heroine projects,” she says. “For instance, I had a guest role in Udayananu Tharam. I was there for just one song in Runway and my character comes in towards the interval in Bus Conductor. I feel that it is the strength of a role that matters and that is my criteria while selecting a film.”
