IIFA’s Technical Award Winners

The International Indian Film Academy is getting ready to host its weekend festival June 6th to the 8th in Bangkok, Thailand. The culmination of the weekend is the IIFA Awards Ceremony. This week the winners of the 14 technical awards were announced. The IIFA awards are nominated and voted on by people in the film industry.

Two films starring Shah Rukh Khan were honored with the most prizes, Om Shanti Om with four and Chak De India with five. Guru continued its run winning music awards with two and the other awards went to Life in a Metro, Aaja Nachle, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Jab We Met.

Best choreography – Vaibhavi Merchant – ‘Aaja Nachle’

Best Action – Javed Sheikh & Ejaz Sheikh

Jab We Met
Best Dialogue – Imtiaz Ali

Life in a Metro
Best Screenplay – Anurag Basu (co-winner with Chak De India)

Guru
Best Sound Recording (music) – H Sridhar – ‘Barso Re’
Idea IIFA Award for Best Background Score – A R Rahman

Om Shanti Om
Best Art Direction – Sabu Cyril
Best Special Effects – Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
Best Costume designing – Manish Malhotra, Karan Johar and Sanjiv Mulchandani
Best Makeup – Bharat-Dorris, Ravi Indulkar and Namrata Soni

Chak De India
Best Cinematography Sudeep Chatterjee
Best Editing Amitabh Shukla
Best Sound Recording Manas Choudhary and Ali Merchant
Best Sound Re-recording Anuj Mathur
Best Screenplay Jaideep Sahni

Yash Chopra said about winning the technical awards for Chak De India, “I am extremely delighted with the response that Chak De India
has received. A win in the technical category is very encouraging as the brilliance of technicians, artists, writers and each person who is behind the camera is appreciated.
