It was the first trailer launch of Ranbir Kapoor and Pallavi Sharda starrer Besharam in Mumbai recently, and while the leads were missing, due to their shooting schedules abroad, Director Abhinav Singh Kashyap made sure the gathered press were regaled with the duo’s ‘Besharam’ tales from the movie off-course.
Accompanying him at the event were producers Himanshu Mehra and Sanjeev Lamba from Reliance Entertainment.
The event started with the launch of the trailer of the film followed by a quick round of Q&A. peaking on the occasion, Abhinav, who is famed for his action directorial Dabangg, said that the film a masala romantic comedy will re-define Ranbir’s massy image among the audience. ‘Ranbir is a hero amongst the masses & a hero with whom everyone with relate to’, explained Abhinav.
The movie, which has an ingenious casting coup of sorts, brings together the Kapoor clan – Rishi, Neetu and Ranbir in a single frame, one of the biggest highlights of the film. While Rishi and Neetu play cops – Chulbul and Bulbul Chautala, Ranbir plays a street smart chap named ‘Babli’. Abhinav revealed how the idea to get Senior Kapoor to play the role of a policeman came from Ranbir himself.
Upon being questioned on the character’s naming which bears likeliness to Salman’s Dabangg character, Abhinav clarified saying, ‘There was no glimpse of Salman Khan also. Chulbul is a name and it has come from me. So I can make fun of myself, I am not laughing at anyone else”.
Once Ranbir returns from his Bombay Velvet Sri Lankan schedule, the makers are contemplating another launch event at an orphanage as was announced earlier.
Besharam is slated for a worldwide release on October 2nd.
