Earlier we had reported that Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj was in danger of being delayed due to the director’s legal battle with the company, T-Series. Now the word going on is that the movie will indeed release on June 6th, as was scheduled, irrespective of Ramu’s legal problems with T-Series. Not only that, but the movie is set to premiere a few days before the release date during the IIFA weekend in Bangkok.

Talking about the release to Subhash K. Jha, RGV said, “People have been unnecessarily speculating about the matter. We never announced any date. I was very clear that I wanted to release it during the summer vacations. We were undecided between the last week of May and the first week of June. Now we’ve zeroed in on June 6.”

Then he goes on to confirm that the premiere of the film will take place during IIFA by saying, “With the Bachchans being closely associated with the IIFA, it seemed appropriate to premiere it at that venue.”

As for the expectations from the film, there are three points for the audience to know:

1. There should be no expectation of seeing Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a couple in the film. They are adversaries in the film and are pitted against each other in a business backdrop.

2. Amitabh Bachchan will be looming like a shadow as Abhishek takes over the family empire.

3. Ramu does not want people to draw real life parallels from the film. “This time the socio-political content is higher than in Sarkar. But the characters are not modeled on real people.”

Well there you have it. Sarkar Raj will not be delayed after all. The release of the film during the IIFA weekend only makes that weekend even more interesting. Those waiting for the release of this highly anticipated film can breath a sigh of relief!
