It began with Maqbool starring Irrfan Khan, Pankaj Kapur and Tabu (adaptation of ‘Macbeth’) and cemented later with Omkara with a stunning ensemble cast (adaptation of ‘Othello’).

And so the Shakespearean obsession continues.

Rumours suggest that Vishal Bhardwaj’s next Shakespearean adaptation will be none other than the classic ‘Romeo and Juliet’, which has been made and re-made by countless filmmakers around the globe. In fact, a source tells Mumbai Mirror that Shahid Kapur will star as Romeo and talks are currently taking place with Priyanka Chopra for the role of Juliet.

Bhardwaj was earlier supposed to commence the film Julia with UTV but there has been no word of its progress since the announcement. There were also rumours of an adaptation of ‘Hamlet’ starring Hrithik Roshan.

So what exactly is Vishal up to? Or shall we say, “Oh, Vishal, Vishal, where art thou?”
