Bollywood Stars Play Football for Charity

Several of Bollywood’s biggest stars took part in a celebrity football match to raise money for cancer patients. The ‘Abhijit Kadam Memorial Foundation’ along with the Salman Khan foundation organized the event and the proceeds went to help the Cancer Aids Society of Pune and Swikaar and NGOs Prism.

The all star roster for the Bollywood team included Salman Khan, Govinda, Suneil Shetty, Sohail Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Ashish Choudhary, Yash Tonk and Ranbir Kapoor. Their opponents were the Pune XI team: Dhanraj Pillay, Vishwas Nangre-Patil, Mandar Tamhane, Micky Aigner, Viswajit Kadam and several others.

Suniel Shetty who was there to support the team, though he could not play said, “This is for charity and a great cause, so, it’s a great reason to be here.”

About 50,000 fans were on hand to witness the exciting match and screamed for every goal and even more when their favorite star came near!

Looking great in their uniforms, Team Bollywood came away with the win scoring 9 goals to 5. Shabbir Ahluwali scored the first point and Ranbir Kapoor was declared ‘Man of the Match’, after scoring 4 of the 9 points. Ranbir said, “I’m really passionate about football. I enjoyed the game all through my school days. Haven’t really played for a long time. It was fun playing after a long time.” Adding that it was for a good cause.

The night of fun and charity continued because after the match the stars went and spent time with some special children. The kids performed for the actors/footballers and then the the team joined in the dancing on the stage.
