Saawariya’s novel promotional tie-in

From my understanding there are two events that India goes crazy about, a highly anticipated Bollywood movie release and a big cricket match. Now Saawariya is one of the most highly anticipated films of this year and Sony Pictures has come up with a novel promotional tie-in with cricket.

Harshavardhan Gangurde, the marketing head of Sony Pictures Releasing of India said, “India as a country is enthusiastic about movies and cricket, so combining the two together made for an interesting marketing tie up.”

How are the two being utilized to promote both cricket and the movie? That seems to be a bit of a stretch. Sony, along with NeoSports, have come up a unique contest, ‘Indias Greatest Cricket Fan Contest.’

Cricket fans, who of course are watching the India-Australia series, will be able to enter the contest and the prize is..wait for it…a chance to meet Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor AND both of the cricket teams. When you have stopped jumping up and down with excitement you will see there will be gala held on October 18th to celebrate the winners of the contest and the end of the cricket match series.

So how do you win this mind-blowing chance of a lifetime? Those wishing to enter need to pick their Man of the Match and SMS it in and then 15 winners will be chosen!
