Well known and talented director Farhan Akhtar is putting on another cap instead of a directors one, he is going to be a leading man in a film. The film, Luck By Chance is his sister Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut.

Farhan said, “Yes, I’m Zoya’s leading man. I don’t know how it happened. But it has happened. I’m putting on hold my next directorial venture Voice From The Sky to star in Zoya’s film.”

Originally Zoya’s first film was to be Kismet Talkies with Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan but that has been put on the back burner for now.

“For now Kismat Talkies isn’t happening. If you remember, Luck By Chance is the film Zoya had decided to make initially. She’s back on that project. We start shooting in March 2008,” Farhan added.

Luck By Chance is Zoya’s vision of contemporary Bollywood and is the third film this year to be set within the film industry. The other two being Sudhir Mishra’s Khoya Khoya Chand and of course the highly anticipated Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Farhan has been a leading man. “It’s my second starring role. I’ve also played the lead in Anand Surapur’s The Fakir Of Venice,” Farhan said.

And we find out he has had other offers as well, he was suppose to portray the role that Abhay Deol did so well in Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. However, he was busy working on a little film of his own called Don and could not make the time. He also was to be in a film by Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh but that has not come about yet.

He said, “ I don’t know what’s happened to that project. But for now I’m looking forward to my acting in my sister’s film.”
