Today is the birthday of one of Bollywood’s newest stars and his debut film has not even released yet! Ranbir Kapoor is turning 25 today and it looks to be a good year to come. His debut film, as if you did not already know, is the highly anticipated Saawariya and everyone (this reporter included) is raving over his cuteness and on screen presence.

About his 25th birthday, Ranbir says, “Birthdays depress me. One has too many expectations from the day and it never lives up to them. I don’t celebrate my birthday and never throw a party.

I just go out for dinner with my family. Probably, I will do the same today too.” Adding, “I will also go to the temple. I’m extremely religious, God fearing and God loving.”

Being part of the Kapoor dynasty, it is clear he was to enter the family business, but at first he was not sure if he wanted to produce or act. He said, “I don’t know when I started thinking of only acting.

I have been inspired by the entire Kapoor khandaan, starting from my grandfather Raj Kapoor to dad Rishi Kapoor. In fact, my grandfather is my idol.

I look up to all his films. Dad is my favorite actor and my mother Neetu Singh is my most favorite person in the world. I especially like Dad’s Karz, Prem Rog and Chandni. And I feel Mom was great in Kabhi Kabhie and Khel Khel Mein.”

But though he takes inspiration from them he says, “I look like my mom and I smile and talk like my dad. But when it comes to acting, I think I would evolve my own style.

And frankly speaking, I don’t think my parents had any particular style of acting. So while their personalities may rub on me, I would want to have a distinct identity of my own too.”

Part of that own style is to be independent of them as well as have their support. “I never took any specific help from my parents while shooting for the movie. When I was shooting my first song, I was very nervous and messaged my father. He messaged back and told me to buck up in such a nice way that it didn’t feel like advice,” Ranbir said.

Next up after Saawariya is a film with the family: “Yes, we are working on an RK film, but nothing has been finalized till now. I will most probably work in it. But beyond that, I am not strategizing my career. I’m just taking it as it comes. If there is a good script, I will accept it.”

Besides his love of acting, he is also a big fan of sports especially, “Football… I am crazy about it.” Sadly he did not get to see the T20 Championship, “I missed the match because I was shooting but I heard the crackers and noises of celebrations.”

Another passion seems to be in the fashion genre. “The only fashion accessory I collect are caps.

I have a huge cabinet at home with all kinds of caps in it. Collecting caps has been my passion since childhood. Even now, I keep buying them.”

We wish Ranbir many blessings on his birthday and always. We look forward to reporting on him next year when we are sure he will be making his next smash hit film.
