Following in the footsteps of Sony, Warner Brothers has made a deal to enter into the world of Bollywood films. They have formed a partnership with Ramesh Sippy Productions and Advani’s Orion Pictures to produce a film and WB is going to distribute it worldwide. The film, Made in China, will star Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone.

“We’ll count on our partners’ expertise and will do everything in our power to make a well-crafted, popular and successful Indian film,” said Blaise Fernandes, manager for Warner Bros Entertainment India.

Ramesh Sippy, added: “At the turn of the century there was a lot of promise in the air about globalization in Indian cinema and now with this venture, RSP and Orion are joining hands with Warner Bros, bringing that dream closer to reality. Certainly what we hope to achieve at the minimum is a greater knowledge and understanding of the workings and systems of Hollywood and the Indian film industry. And I am sure we both stand to gain a lot from each other.”

As the title suggests the movie is being made in China and this is the first time a Bollywood movie is being shot on location there. Akshay plays a cook from Mumbai who in a case of mistaken-identity is thought to be a famous martial artist. The film directed by Nikhil Advani, with a script by Shridhar Raghavan and the music by Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonca, begins shooting early in 2008.

We look forward to hearing more about this film and to seeing it when shooting is complete. It certainly will be interesting to see how all of these different flavors; Hollywood, Bollywood and China come together.
