Hollywood film, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ has been creating massive buzz worldwide for all the right reasons, beginning with the fifth-time collaboration of Oscar Winning Director Martin Scorsese & actor Leonardo DiCaprio. With Bollywood’s admiration for ‘The Departed’ director quite evident, it wasn’t surprising to see the turnout at the special screening of the film hosted by Anurag Kashyap earlier this week in Mumbai.
Anurag & Martin who interacted as jury members at the Marakkech festival in early December, are known to share a mutually admiring relationship; with the latter having been candid about his appreciation for Anurag’s movies.
Among the early birds were Anushka Sharma, Imtiaz Ali, Arjun Kapoor, Ayan Mukherji among others and spoke about their delight at being at the preview, “It’s very rare to get a chance to watch a film like this and that too an unrated version. So very excited to see what these guys have done yet again”, added Imtiaz Ali. Ranbir Kapoor & Katrina Kaif made a timely entry together, but unlike their peers shied away from giving media bytes or posing for photo ops.
Other stars who were spotted at the screening were Nasserudin Shah accompanied by son Vivaan Shah & wife Ratna Pathak, Kiran Rao, Abhinav Kashyap, Abhishek Kapoor, Goldie Behl, Arunoday Singh, Sarah Jane Dias & Vikas Bahl.
The Wolf of Wall Street, based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir of the same name, tells the story of a New York stockbroker, played by DiCaprio, who refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, the corporate banking world, and mob infiltration. The film releases in India on the 3rd January 2014.
