Jackie Chan to be honoured with coveted Fellowship Award at The Asian Awards in London

14mar_JackieChan-FellowshipAwardAsia’s biggest and most famous actor, Jackie Chan is to be honoured with the prestigious Fellowship Award for over 50 years of outstanding contribution to the worldwide film industry at The Asian Awards in London on April 4th 2014.

Jackie Chan is China’s most esteemed actor and a singular phenomenon across the globe. He is well known for his films in both Hollywood and in Asia with his most notable work being martial arts orientated.

Famously known for conducting all of his own stunts, in 2010 Jackie Chan starred in the remake of 80’s cinema hit, The Karate Kid produced by his friend Will Smith. He is also known for successful franchises such as Police Story and Rush Hour, the latter grossing nearly $1 billion at the box office. He has well over 1 billion fans worldwide and has been immortalised on the Hollywood walk of fame.

Commenting on the news of being honoured with the Fellowship Award Jackie Chan said, “It is my honour to receive the Fellowship award from The Asian Awards. I have been in the film industry for more than 53 years and movies have acted as a bridge between the audience and me. I have devoted myself to make films that entertain people and hopefully they can get my message of protecting our planet, keeping peace and harmony. I am truly grateful for this honour.”

Jackie is currently preparing for his “Peace, Love and Friendship concert” which marks his 60th birthday. The concert will be held in Beijing and features performers from North Korea, China, Japan, Singapore and numerous other Asian countries. Previous recipients of the Asian Awards Fellowship include actor Sir Ben Kingsley and the late great Ravi Shankar.

A host of stars, business leaders and politicians will attend The Asian Awards, hosted by Lord Sebastian Coe, which celebrates the outstanding achievements of individuals born in or with direct family origin from all of Asia across all disciplines of life. The Asian Awards were an ambitious idea conceived by Paul Sagoo, entrepreneur and founder of the Lemon Group “Our goal was to celebrate the highest calibre of individuals from the global Asian community across all spheres of activity,” said Sagoo. “This year is no different and we continue to raise the bar of the event each year”.
